I got a spare hood as a gift. The insulation on it is completely clogged and oil-soaked. When I removed it, it was scary to even hold—it seemed about to tear from its own weight.

Without thinking, I tried cleaning it with a mini pressure washer. This was a mistake—the tar didn't come off, but the insulation soaked up water instead. Now there's no way to lift or lean it against anything due to how heavy and soggy it became. So I just left it by the garage.
I came back after three days and saw it lying there. It had dried out a bit and even looked better than before. I decided to give the insulation another chance.

Left it soaking in gasoline inside a barrel liner for several days, repeating this process multiple times. Then I let it dry on top of my garage.

At the end, I did some touch-ups with an aerosol can. And it hung on my wall like a painting for almost a year.
