Uploading for your review, the process of disassembling an old starter (also applicable to many Toyota starters.)

Alright! Let's go!

our patient

tighten two bolts and a nut from terminal post

remove the motor

unscrew

take off the cover and pull out the armature

full size

check and clean the commutator bars where brushes travel

check (and replace if necessary), wash, lubricate bearings. Check pinion shaft.

brushes (still look good)

stator (not burnt or shorted)

tighten screws, remove cover, see contact plates

clean contacts in three places (if worn, you can buy replacements at a store)

This is what eats away at the contacts!

two more bolts again

split the reducer ATTENTION! Do not lose 5 rollers from the small gear (photo below) and one ball (photo above)

this is the civilian type of the suspicious appearance

extract the bendix

push down ring 1 (you can put a 13mm head on top and tap it lightly - the ring will jump off the stop.) And remove stop 2

further, remove everything from the shaft in this sequence.

Wow! It wasn't for nothing I took it apart! The bearing is crushed.

remove bendix bearings and gear (you can take one side of the bearing off).

inside the bendix are 5 spring-loaded rollers

use a needle to lift out springs and rollers.

here they are

wash, clean, assemble

I advise when assembling the starter not to stint on lubrication, grease all bearings, all rollers, all gears in the reducer. (The motor and contact plates do not need oil!)

Assemble by looking at pictures in reverse order.

Good health and luck to everyone!
