Hello everyone!
During a more thorough inspection of the engine compartment, its disassembly and further breakdown of the Samurai's body, we carried out work to revive the original heart, 21R-U. As I promised in my previous post I will try to describe in detail what worked and what didn't.
And so, let's begin. The first thing we decided to do was to bore the block for the repair size piston group"Teikin" 46199100and check the technical condition of the crankshaft. In search of competent specialists, I got help from guys at "Drift Works KMV". For this, a big thank you to them. Without hesitation, we loaded the block and crankshaft into the trunk and headed to these masters in Win-Sady. We talked with them and left the block with the piston group
for boring and also checked the crankshaft on a machine for defects.
And here we were disappointed because the crankshaft again had a bend that ate up the bearings and disrupted the cylinder mirrors. Why again?! Because at the end of the 90s, the engine once started knocking and Dad was already dealing with restoring one of the crankshaft journals. And this happened after ownership of this car by young and hot-blooded Caucasian boys. In the end, the masters gave us sound advice: "Better look for a used crankshaft rather than repair your original one since its restoration will be very expensive". Of course, we listened to the experts' advice, didn't take risks, and started looking for a used crankshaft.
The search turned out not to be long, I found within a week, though not a used crankshaft but a used engine 21R-U from Toyota Corona Mark II RX60.This engine was found in Irkutsk with the help of one of the best groups for owners of classic old Japanese cars "True OldSchool JDM"

After some time, the engine arrived at the designated point, that is, home.
We opened it and were terribly surprised by what we saw.It felt like they poured used oil into this engine which was similar in color to asphalt. But these are all minor details. Our main task was for the crankshaft to be in working technical condition. Therefore, we went to check the used crankshaft for defects. But here we were incredibly lucky. It was functioning properly and straight but due to the use of low-quality oils, there were scratches on the journals and slight axial movement. So we had to order bearings and thrust half-rings of repair size.Considering my previous experience in purchasing bearings and thrust ringsI settled for a company "Taiho"

.I also bought a crankshaft bearing 62012RUC4.
After the work of the masters was completed, we ended up with a machined original block,
which just needed to be cleaned and painted. And you could say it's like getting a brand new crankshaft, which we didn't recognize when we came to pick it up.
All shiny and clean.
We are very satisfied with the result. A huge thank you to these guys for their quality of work and approach. And here are their contact details,

Now let's smoothly move on to the cylinder head. For the repair of the cylinder head, we used the services of a repair company"GARO", which is located in Pyatigorsk.
From the previously mentioned listonly oil seals "Toyota" 90913-02110were suitable for us. However, intake valves "Toyota" 13711-35051 and exhaust valves "Toyota" 13715-35020 needed modifications as the plates were too wide and did not fit into their places. Plus, the seats for the intake valve "Toyota" 11131-35011 and the seats for the exhaust valve "Toyota" 11135-35020 also didn't match in size, so we had to order custom-made seats. As for valve guides "Toyota" 11122-38021 we did not use them because the original ones were in good working condition.
To be honest, I am not very satisfied with the work of "GARO". The entire cylinder head is dirty and greasy. My expectations were completely different. Well, we will clean it up ourselves and bring it to a decent appearance. The main thing is that everything works like clockwork in the future.
Now let's move on to the piston group. For replacing pistons, we also used the services of "GARO" and I was still not satisfied. Instead of compression rings "Teikin" which came with the kit, they installed compression rings from a "Gazel". Why?! They justified this by saying that these rings "Teikin", unlike Gazeliyskikh, do not inspire confidence and look flimsy. And the fact that the installation grooves in the pistons under the rings are flat, rather than rounded, did not bother them.
We also have another question arising. After installing new pistons and wrist pins, two pistons easily dropped down by their own weight when placed horizontally. But the other two pistons remained immobile in the same horizontal position (as seen in the photo). Our initial thought was poor installation quality. Then we considered wear of connecting rod bearings. Based on this, we purchased new connecting rod bearings"Taiho" P010HSTD
Then friends helped find another turner who looked at everything and suggested putting some oil between the bearing and the pin. And as per the manual requirements: 'The clearance between the bearing and the pin should be such that when covered with engine oil, the pin can be pressed in by hand pressure under normal temperature'. After this procedure, all four pistons easily dropped down by their own weight. Also I installed oil control rings"Teikin"that came as a set.
Also purchased a full set of seals"Teikin" TF9080NKfor the engine.
