Hello everyone)

After disassembling the engine, I fell into a funk. Went to look for parts and found out that almost nobody knows about M engines. Even those who do know say there's nothing available, not even on order.

That's when it became really sad.

Parts seem to be available online but either in Russia or on order with at least a month wait time.

I stumbled upon the website japan-motors.com.ua/.

Fortunately Google doesn't index this site, and I had to search there manually. Nonetheless, I highly recommend it to everyone. The people are very knowledgeable and reasonable, especially Oxana Andreevna. If you have specific questions, call her directly. This is not an advertisement; it's the only place where I could actually find what I needed.

Now let me get to the point.

To figure out the piston and ring condition in the first cylinder, I had to take them out. Surprisingly, the rings were in perfect shape, but the bearings weren't good at all

New ones were purchased, original Japanese parts. As it turns out, they come in three types, so you need to choose by sample. Something like revisions. Initially, I made an order with them; Oxana Andreevna noticed that they wouldn't fit and gave me the correct ones. 25$

Next is the chain. It's one type, the number found on Exist fits perfectly. 20$

the number is also visible in the photo

And now the most important part, what everyone said needed replacing. The tensioner pulley of the timing belt. I decided to install a new chain because of it.

This is how mine looked like

Half a turn:

It's completely destroyed. It's made of plastic. Everyone says this is very bad; the chain doesn't get enough tension and can skip a tooth. Honestly, I didn't fully understand why this was such a critical problem and why it was so important to replace the pulley. After all, there are no parts in stock anywhere else. But here it's available on order. So I listened and ordered. It arrived within a week.

I had an option to use a donor engine part, but they said it was too worn out as well.

So this is what I received:

In original packaging

Definitely an authentic part, no counterfeit.

Made in Japan.

My surprise when I opened it and saw

Oh my god, the pulley is genuine with hardly any teeth. It simply acts like a roller to tension the chain. Couldn't they have left the old one?

The pulley from the donor engine is on the photo to the left. It cost me 25$ and isn't returnable. The part number matches exactly, though it's made of rubber instead of plastic. Well, I'll put it in anyway; new parts are always better than old ones.

I also had thoughts about checking main bearings. I decided to loosen one bearing cap and found them to be in a better condition than the connecting rod bearings.

I screwed it back on. There's no energy or money left to change the main bearings)

Also, oil scraper rings were purchased. Lots of alternative options are available but I bought two sets from different brands. Unfortunately, there weren't 12 original parts in stock, otherwise I would have bought them)

And these ones as wellThe saddest thing is that I can't find a head gasket. Why it's such a problem baffles me; nowhere to be found even on order. Even at japan-motors there's one but it takes time from Germany and costs 1500 грн (55$), which is too expensive.Dima

gave me his head gasket, which fits.

Everything in the piston area looks fine as expected.

But where the chain goes, it's a complete mess.

A piece needs to be cut off and glued with sealant. Luckily there's almost no pressure there so nothing terrible happens.

Also worth noting is that the 5m-eu head gasket doesn't fit either. I made a mistake by not checking first and bought one. (I will definitely change it). Since 5meu has a larger displacement, this results in issues with compression

Definitely no good to use.

Such is life. In general, everything has been bought, now comes assembly. I really hope the engine will come back to life again!)]
