Side moldings.
Everyone knows the disease of our moldings—it's rust on the inner metal guide. As a result, the molding takes on the most bizarre shapes. I already saw their terrible condition when I bought them. First, I looked for whole and good-quality moldings but was unsuccessful. Then I thought about buying by the meter, cutting it up, and gluing it together, but that was the last resort. And here they are! The moldings are bent and crooked, plus I didn't have the front right one, so throwing them away is a waste, but selling them is embarrassing. There's nothing to lose, so I start restoring the moldings.

Bend the metal edges of the plate. Remove clips.

Remove rusty innards. Simply wind them up with pliers.

There are quite sturdy parts where metal separates from plastic poorly. I recommend doing this while heating the metallic part. I did it at 40 degrees, and the plastic was very soft. If there's not enough heat, it can break when you twist off the metal.

You get a sausage-like roll!

Remove plastic edges.

Clean them again! Wash them.

Then came a long issue for me. It needed to be made (ordered something like a matrix for straightening bent moldings by life. But I noticed this: after 4-5 days lying on the table in the sun at around 40 degrees, they TAKEN ON A NEARLY FLAT FORM. Hallelujah! You can forget about the matrix. Moving to the next stage.
Next we buy a sealant for gluing windows. I needed 3 units per complete set of moldings. Also included with the sealant was primer.

Prepare tools and pastilles for moldings. Bought an aluminum corner from household goods, scraper 60mm, screws. Set corners on plywood to match the width of the molding (so it fits tightly). Cut the scraper between the corners.

If the end parts of the moldings are torn off—glue them with sealant and fix directly on the plywood with screws and corner pieces

Install the molding in a pastille, degrease, dry, apply primer, dry, fill with sealant, carefully smooth it out with a scraper without removing from the pastille. Do not dry in direct heat, due to the relatively thick layer, the sealant will bubble.

After the sealant dries, take it out of the pastille and cut off excess sealant on the edges of the molding with a utility knife or scalpel. It turned out like this!

And just like that!

Then stick double-sided tape to moldings, degrease where they will attach to your car, and stick them on FLAT.

Далее клеим к молдингам двухсторонний скотч, Обезжириваем место крепления молдинга на авто, и РОВНЕНЬКО клеим могдинги.
