Version for cars without relay herewww.drive2.ru/o/b/648395476990701398/

❗ "What's up with this being 500 rubles on Ali and Ozon, while the smart seller here pushes them at 2.3 kilorubles — looking for suckers?" — the answer to this question is below.

It’s also called a "lazy turn signal extender" or "turn signal extension cord".
This relay allows you to enhance your car with a function that extends turning signals and emergency flasher blinking: when you lightly tap, more precisely, quickly flick the stalk back to neutral position, it automatically prolongs the blink. This feature is present in some factory-equipped models from auto manufacturers, mostly Germans, while Japanese cars rarely have this.

Here are a couple of video examples of how it works:

Features:
✔ Extend turning signals with short touches on the under-the-wheel stalk.
✔ Similarly for emergency flashers; you can set the number of blinks separately and to any number.
✔ Function "refusal to maneuver" — during extension, if you briefly press in the same direction, it cancels the extension.
✔ LED compatibility — LED turn signals blink without doubled frequency.
✔ Priority turning mode — turn signals blink even with emergency lights on (handy for driving in an emergency).
✔ Polite emergency light mode — works well with alarm systems that automatically start the car.

Programmable features:
✔ Setting the number of polite blinks, from zero to 255 separately for flashers and turn signals.
✔ Anti-bounce setting: protection against false triggers.
✔ Sensitivity adjustment: threshold time for triggering.
✔ Desired blink frequency setting, from 60 to 100 times per minute.
✔ Factory reset function

All settings are made with the car's standard switches. The programming mode is not complicated and easy to understand; it’s detailed in the attached manual. Usually, no relay setup or programming is required before installation. By default, turn signals blink three times and emergency lights twice. The relay replaces the stock relay without any wiring changes. Simply replace the relay as you would a burnt-out bulb. The included instructions have algorithms for finding this relay’s location in various car models.

This relay fits Toyota, Lexus, Subaru, and Suzuki cars from early 2000s with Denso relays having an 8-pin connector. Whether it fits can be determined by an auto parts catalog or visual comparison of the relay form and contact count. If the relay’s shape and contacts match mine, then it fits.

New relays in packaging, left is version one (discontinued), right is version two:

Made on factory circuit boards, far from what’s sold in Chinese stores (some without extension but with LED support also have potentiometers that only adjust speed):

Left is mine (2017 version, also discontinued), right is Chinese made.

My polite relay, 2022 version, currently available for sale.

This relay has no issues like Chinese relays: extended first blink of the signal, low or high flash frequency, uneven duty cycle, and excessive standby current draw. It works in harsh Siberian cold and scorching southern heat with stable flash frequency.

On Aliexpress, there are some relays with politeness features even though sellers don’t mention them; read typical reviews about them:

Typically: wrong functionality, no emergency light politeness, no maneuver refusal function, delayed signal start, lack of debounce when returning the stalk to neutral, excessive current draw (20mA). Another type is noticeably slower in response. I learn about these through personal messages from customers who have bought cheaper ones and then had to buy mine instead. Also common are counterfeit relays sent as cheap knockoffs with rusted innards or poor quality circuitry in homemade casings.

Here’s a small collection of internal components from four Chinese relays made differently, purchased on Aliexpress in 2023:

The assembly and soldering quality can be judged but the functionality is different. One has politeness, another adjusts frequency, a third lacks politeness, a fourth doesn’t support LEDs (blinks rapidly). Some have delayed response times or extended first blinks.

I have numerous threads in my inbox about Chinese relays from Aliexpress with their issues:
Similar counterfeit relays are also sold on Ozon. They copy my product description and photos, even applying QR codes to packages with setup videos of my relay on YouTube as bait to sell them at a higher price than ordinary Chinese relays. Look for reviews! Counterfeits have either no or very negative reviews.

The list of part numbers for eight-connector turn signal relays is quite extensive and diverse. Here is an incomplete list:

There are also relays that do not fit:
❌ 81980-35020 — for Lexus GX470, 4RUNNER body GRN21#, UZN21# and TACOMA GRN2##, TRN2## — all these cars are for the American market. It also doesn't fit Toyota Camry 50th body, this is ACV51, ASV5#, AVV50, GSV50, in these cars there is no turn signal relay already. Also fits on the American Celica! Not suitable for some Impreza, old Foresters and Outbacks. And not suitable for most cars after 2015 release year. The release year means body release year or restyling year. For example, for Land Cruiser Prado 150 second restyle up to 2017 release year relay fits.

There are cars on which the contact clips differ:

This is usually Corollas, RAV4 mainly, enough to cut off or break the clips and relay installs without problems. The difference and replacement option of the blue cover from the original relay is very detailed herewww.drive2.ru/l/522587157517304520/

As well for Prado and Cruisers, relays are attached through a plate to the body, mounting on the lid differs ( all else, shape, connector fits). Therefore, usually relays are taped with insulating tape to each other and cross-wired. Perfectionists replace external covers on relay — they are interchangeable. All is described in reports below by links.

As turn signal relays are like a musical instrument that audibly clicks due to different internal design, the sound, tone, and volume may differ after replacement compared to standard. Some will be extremely unhappy with this factor, most won't notice the difference, while some actually prefer the new relay's sound. Just know about it.

If the standard relay is red (can be green or other color), has fewer contacts and differs in plug by presence of key slot, then it's not a turn signal relay! It's a stop signal relay (on Lexus IS it's so), turn signal relay there is located nearby.

This is not a turn signal relay! This is a control relay for the stop signals.

Detailed installation examples and videos can be read and watched on user pages of drive, fortunately over the years there are plenty:
