Wearing out on a post about tuning Staps on Drive and remembered. That I personally made such steps for myself when I still had my first Mark 81 long, long ago))) I didn't read or watch anything, everything was thought up by me when I saw this step in a crashed state. And it was exactly this that pushed me to make such modifications)) My result turned out even cooler than in the photo with slightly blackened glass. Later on, I replaced them with stock ones from another Mark.

In general, you need a construction hair dryer, two comfort settings of an electric plate, thick acrylic glass, sealant, a bit of putty, matte black paint, tape, metal sandpaper, plastic clamps, 2 chunks and that's it. Besides, I used liquid tinting and LED strip lighting. My steps were better than stock before the restyle, they looked nicer on the inside with two white squares instead of solid ones!

1) Take the headlight and the hair dryer. Heat up the edges of the glass and carefully remove the glass. If it slightly breaks during removal, it will definitely shatter 100% as it's very fragile plastic. I broke one :)

2) Once you've removed the glass, the picture in front of you will look similar to the photo except for the lack of transparent glass instead of the original red one. (Personally, I took off these white plastic pieces and painted them with liquid tinting completely black and inserted LED strips along the edges for turn signals; it looked awesome compared to stock!)

3) Make a clear piece of glass!(The most difficult part, I spent a lot of time on it.)
Take acrylic glass and put down the original glass. Measure 15 cm around all sides from the original glass. Then take a template and attach it to chunks with tape. Place an electric plate between the chunks, turn it on and wait (acrylic glass softens under heat). To speed up the process, use a construction hair dryer from the other side but don't overdo it. When the acrylic glass starts sagging, turn off the plate. Quickly dip the red original glass into the softened acrylic glass (I used two suction cups to hold the glass in place). Wait for it to harden (it happens quickly) and your glass is almost ready.

TIP: Practice by reheating small pieces and try making a simple part like a signal repeater first, so you can better understand the manufacturing process.
I personally wasted 1.5 square meters of acrylic glass before I got it right)) That's how it goes!

4) By the way, to make the glass easier to remove, I greased it with a thin layer of oil (red stock)

5) Remove the glass and cut it to shape with metal sandpaper, polish it with fine-grit paper, and your glass is ready!

6) Fill in the channel between the brake light and turn signal on the headlight with putty, sand it down, and paint it matte black.

7) Paint around the edges of the headlight so that no sealant shows through.

8) Pour transparent window sealant into the channel on the headlight and attach the lens. Press tightly by placing 2-3 small blocks onto the glass and tightening with plastic clamps. Leave to dry for a day.

TUNED OPTICS COMPLETE! APPLAUSE! )))

In that post, it was written that they cost 27,000 rubles. I was stunned)))

Unfortunately, none of my photos survived(( They disappeared when my hard drive crashed(( Mine looked much cooler!))

P.S - If anyone has questions, feel free to ask.
