After failing to purchase a new viscous coupling, I came across a dummy part and decided to look at used ones. There are some for 2000, 1000, even 300 rubles, and they work fine too. However, only when I saw these used couplings in person did it hit me that I don't need them even for free. They're all dirty, oxidized, and scary-looking, so they shouldn’t be on my retro beauty whose engine compartment is slowly getting a proper look. No, he needs a brand new shiny viscous coupling. I was thinking of buying a new one, having it installed at an authorized service center, and if it turns out to be faulty again, returning it under warranty. But then I realized that the store wouldn't recognize a dummy part as non-functional since there's no specification on how this part should work. The dummy coupling handles engine cooling just fine. It’s just noisy and always stiff, but such parameters are not mentioned.

New plan: Buying all sorts of new couplings and testing them at home with a hair dryer or even by installing them in the car. If they turn out to be dummies or defective again, I'll return them to the store within two days as unsuitable parts and go for another coupling from a different store.

There's a spring that reacts to heating. The point where it attaches to the shaft immediately impressed me; it's not like on the dummy part.
There are white marks for seeing the spring's rotation!
The new one is 1 cm taller than the original, but I still have 15 cm of clearance in front of my engine.
I installed it and heated up the spring with a hair dryer. It shows all signs of being a working viscous coupling. Satisfied enough to buy another one as backup. But how it performs in hot weather remains to be seen.

Установил, прогрел пружину феном, есть все признаки рабочей вискомуфты. Доволен, хоть вторую покупай в запас)). Но, как она покажет себя в работе в жару предстоит еще выяснить.
