
The adjustment was successful, although I didn't immediately realize that what needed to be bent was not the springs themselves but the stops on which the springs rest. I managed to set 13.5 volts by bending the relay stop as shown in Figure 9-93.

The device is extremely simple: The first relay activates (Fig. 9-94) when a signal comes from the middle point of the generator and turns off the control lamp on the dashboard, turning on charging. Next, the battery charges until its voltage exceeds the required level. Once exceeded, the second relay (Fig. 9-93) cuts off charging.
