The Lexus LS 600hL is the world's first hybrid vehicle with a permanent all-wheel drive system. This undoubtedly helps it both in winter and summer ;). Considering its length, this is quite significant. The transmission includes three differentials and a motor shaft directly connected to the hybrid transmission. The TORSEN limited-slip differential delivers 40% of torque to the front axle and 60% to the rear axle. Just like with proper sports cars )) The distribution of torque is constantly monitored and can vary from 30:70 to 50:50 for the front/rear axles respectively. To implement this all-wheel drive system, they ordered from Aisin a specially designed transfer case.
