════════════Frequently Asked Question════════════
In this article, I would like to explain how to replace the lever-type climate control (CC) block SX80 with a fully automatic CC block from JZX/GX81. There are four types of CC blocks in total:
1) Mechanical (only has cable operation)
2) Semi-automatic (the pre-restyle SX80 variant has both cable and automatic operation)

3) Automatic (the restyled SX80 variant, featuring lever controls)

4) Automatic (all GX/JZX81 variants)

We will be considering options 2 and 4 as we have these setups available.
Let's start by comparing the two CC blocks:
SX80 (pre-restyle)

This block is semi-automatic, meaning button control only applies to damper modes. Other functions are mechanical through cables. On the rear panel, there are two connectors:
I) Power
II) Damper Control
JZX81/GX

Such a CC block is fully automatic and all actions are performed by electronic blocks and servomotors. The rear panel has two connectors:
I) Combines power, damper control, and servomotor control
II) Combines power and damper control.
Even at first glance, we can see that the blocks are fundamentally different despite having similar functionality; thus, a simple bolt-on replacement is out of the question. Let's figure out what prevents us from simply inserting a new automatic CC block and what is needed for such a transition.
Components to replace SX80 (pre-restyle) CC block with JZX/GX81 (restyled)
1) Automatic CC block (JZX/GX81):
Install in the standard bolt-on location

2) Approximately 6 connectors from the dashboard harness (CC block, servomotor, resistors and other blocks)

3) Heater servomotor with control block (or heater assembly):
This servomotor opens and closes the heater valve via cable tension (the adjustment of this motor is very smooth and precise, allowing for specific temperature capture in the cabin)

4) Airflow speed control block with resistor:
I) This block is located on the evaporator of the air conditioner in its standard place (absent on sx80; without it, only two settings work: I and HI)
II) Block #2 exists on SX models but should be replaced as it is a direct fit

5) Evaporator housing:
The stock SX80 evaporator housing lacks an opening for the resistor. This block must be placed inside the evaporator to cool properly.

6) Two temperature sensors and an air tube:
1) Installed with the CC unit and air tube

2) Located on the dash passenger side.
